By mid 2014 most of the talk around the next iPhone was not only about thinner design and a bigger screen, but about whether Apple would ship two sizes at once. Leaks and dummy units kept pointing to a mainstream 4.7 inch phone and a taller, wider 5.5 inch model aimed at people who wanted a pocketable phablet. The shot below was doing the rounds as another quick visual check of how those two footprints might line up side by side.

Here is the latest photo of iPhone 6 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch model.

What the comparison showed

In one frame you could see how much taller and wider the 5.5 inch outline looked next to the 4.7 inch version, even when both kept the same general shape language (rounded sides, slim profile, and the power button shifted to the side on larger mock-ups, as other leaks had already suggested). It was never a guarantee of final Apple specs, but it helped buyers picture the decision they would soon face: compact one hand use versus maximum screen for video, mail, and maps.

Apple went on to announce the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014. If you still use either size today and the glass, battery, or charging port is giving trouble, you can see current repair options on our pricing page or browse more posts on the blog home.
